Back to School with Best Buddies!
Dear Friends,
As students across the country return to school, our Best Buddies Friendship programs are ready to help build real connections and friendships for students who often feel left out and alone.
Ella and Bella, high school students from Best Buddies in Pennsylvania, are a shining example of how our programs create meaningful connections. The two were paired in September 2022 and have been best buddies ever since. Here's how Best Buddies is making a difference in their lives:
“My life has undergone many changes since becoming involved with Best Buddies. Before joining, I was reserved and lacked confidence in expressing myself and connecting with others. Although I attended Beaver Area High School, I was not active in any clubs but felt a strong desire to get more involved. My knowledge about individuals within the intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) community was limited, and I was eager to learn more.
When I joined Best Buddies two years ago, I was paired with my buddy Bella. Little did I know that decision would change my life in ways I could never have imagined. Our friendship blossomed and we began participating in many activities together, such as playing basketball and bowling. At Best Buddies events, we enjoy playing games, arts and crafts, sharing stories, and even coordinating our outfits. We also have a shared love for Taylor Swift and the color purple!
